About the Project

YOUACA4Seniors is a European project aimed at promoting active ageing, social inclusion, and intergenerational cooperation through sport. The project brings together young leaders (18–30) and seniors (55+) to work together in intergenerational teams to co-design and test inclusive sport programmes tailored to the needs and motivations of older adults.

Through the creation of an Intergenerational Sports Academy, the project supports grassroots sport organisations in developing sustainable and adaptable activities that encourage older people to remain physically active and socially connected. At the same time, young participants gain valuable skills in sport leadership, community engagement, and inclusive coaching practices.

By combining youth engagement with senior participation, YOUACA4Seniors contributes to building stronger communities and promoting healthy lifestyles across Europe.

Objectives

The YOUACA4Seniors project aims to promote active ageing and strengthen intergenerational cooperation through sport. The main objectives are:

  • Encourage greater participation of seniors (55+) in physical activity and grassroots sport
  • Promote intergenerational collaboration by connecting young sport leaders with older adults
  • Support the development of inclusive and age-friendly sport programmes in grassroots sport organisations
  • Provide training and practical tools for young facilitators and coaches to work with senior participants
  • Improve social inclusion, wellbeing and community engagement through sport-based activities
  • Share good practices and sustainable models for intergenerational sport initiatives across Europe
