About the Project
Women Leadership in Sport is a European cooperation project that aims to strengthen women’s participation in leadership roles within grassroots sport. The project focuses on improving the capacity of sport clubs and organisations to create more inclusive environments, while empowering women (particularly unemployed women) to develop leadership, management, and organizational skills through sport.
WELEAD promotes collaboration between EU Programme countries (Italy and Austria) and non-associated countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro), supporting the transfer of knowledge and good practices to foster gender equality in sport leadership across different national contexts.
Objectives
The project specifically aims to:
- Strengthen the capacity of sport organisations to increase women’s participation as leaders, especially in grassroots sports
- Develop new competencies among coaches to design and deliver sport programmes that respond to women’s participation needs
- Promote sport management and leadership skills among women, with a special focus on unemployed women
- Raise awareness among sport clubs and institutions about the role of women in grassroots sport leadership
