Wintersports in CSIT start in December 2026

CSIT Executive Board has decided to trial winter events

The CSIT is traditionally a sports federation focusing on summer sports and organises summer sports games every two years. Following internal discussions, the CSIT Executive Board has decided to trial winter events as well and has established a winter sports division under the leadership of CSIT Vice-President Thomas Zacharias. The first alpine skiing events are scheduled to take place as early as mid-December 2026. With the support of the Austrian CSIT member ASKÖ, the first alpine events – which will also be open to international guests – will take place as part of the ASKÖ National Championships in the Styrian ski resort of Gaal. This three-day event will consist of a special training day for international participants led by Austrian coaches, as well as two days of competition. Ski jumping championships are also planned for the end of 2027 in Austria.
