The WeLead EU Project Meeting in Vienna

Women Leadership in Sport is a European cooperation project

The aim of the WeLead EU Project is to strengthen women’s participation in leadership roles within grassroots sport. The project focuses on improving the capacity of sport clubs and organisations to create more inclusive environments, while empowering women (particularly unemployed women) to develop leadership, management, and organizational skills through sport. The project partners have gathered in Vienna at the “House of Sports” to continue working together on strengthening women’s leadership in sport.

WeLead promotes collaboration between EU Programme countries (Italy and Austria) and non-associated countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro), supporting the transfer of knowledge and good practices to foster gender equality in sport leadership across different national contexts. The meeting is an important opportunity to exchange ideas, align on the next project steps, and further develop our joint activities within the WeLead – Women LEADership in Sport project. All focused on productive discussions, strong cooperation, and new impulses for empowering women in sport across Europe.

The meeting was opened by Wolfgang Burghardt, Secretary General of CSIT, who welcomed the partners and highlighted the importance of European cooperation, leadership, and inclusion in sport.
