Thank you Ostende – Thank you Belgium – Thank you FROS
The great efforts paid off
As the CSIT Swimming Single Championships come to a conclusion on Thursday, the atmosphere among the officials and the athletes has been exciting. For their tremendous performance, the swimmers were rewarded with an ideally organized competition. Both the local Organizing Committee by FROS as well as the CSIT Technical Commission have been very pleased with the championships and the hard work everyone involved has put in. The result was perfect swimming competitions that left nothing to be desired.
Hubert Mattens of the Organizing Committee is very satisfied with the number of participants: “I am incredibly pleased with the presence of 307 participants. For years it has been a dream of mine to organize this event, so I am proud we were successful to eventually find a great swimming pool close to a big hotel in Ostende! Furthermore I am grateful for all our sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible, and obviously our team and officials who work so well together.
Roberto Vecchione, Chairman of the Technical Commission, also lauds the work of everyone involved: “The swimming championship was a great success both on the aspect of organization and on the participation aspect of the CSIT unions. A reward goes to Hubert and all the staff. The key to success is working on it month after month. We always try to keep a high level of organization. The latest changes to the regulation of swimming with the introduction of new categories, have brought the participation of more children. Our Technical Commission is looking forward to more events, as we are already working for the CSIT World Sports Games 2025 in Greece. We are considering organizing Master Championships also during the individual CSIT championships."
Involvement of Masters Sports in CSIT
As the championships wrap up, CSIT is already looking ahead, committed to increasing the involvement of masters athletes in future events, as hinted by Roberto Vecchione. An inspiring example of this commitment was seen in the participation of 58-year-old Stefano Cocucca, who competed alongside predominantly under-18 athletes. Reflecting on his experience, Stefano remarked, “CSIT is one of the best swimming championships I have ever tried. It helped me meet many athletes of different nationalities and I cannot wait to relive an experience like that.'" Inspired by athletes like Stefano, CSIT is dedicated to making its championships appealing to all age groups, embodying its motto: "Sports for All."
