Christian Orduña is one of 630 Mexican athletes at the 8th WORLD SPORTS GAMES 2025. Mexico is the second largest delegation in Loutraki behind Italy (780). The tennis player is taking part for the third time, even though he is a sports professional. Why is he allowed to do that? Because he is not competing in his favorite sport. “I'm top 5 in the Mexican professional padel rankings,” he says. “That's why, after Tortosa 2019 and Cervio 2023, I'm playing in the tennis tournament again in Greece.” The 36-year-old from Puebla, near Mexico City, is finance director of a supermarket start-up. The duels with the players from the also strong Austrian delegation in particular draw him out of his shell: “I won all my individual matches this time,” he laughs, “but it's a team competition. And unfortunately we're not doing so well there.”
