Let the Games begin
CSIT WSG2025 Loutraki
The opening press conference of the 8th CSIT World Sports Games, which will be held in the Gulf of Corinth from 3 to 8 June, took place on Monday at the Loutraki Thermal Spa. CSIT President Bruno Molea made a very strong statement in favour of sport, given the many armed conflicts around the world: Sport is a bridge, not a barrier - Sport unites where war divides - Sport brings peace. So let the Games begin.
Speech CSIT President Bruno Molea
Our decision to host the VIII CSIT World Sports Games in Greece, and specifically in Loutraki, was a natural and meaningful one. Greece is the historic birthplace of the Olympic Games, and as such, it symbolizes the very roots of sport as a cultural and unifying practice.
Loutraki, located between Athens and Olympia, offers more than just breathtaking scenery and state-of-the-art sports facilities. It is a community deeply committed to sport, wellness, and hospitality. Our local partner, the Hellenic Organization for Company Sports and Health (HOCSH), has been instrumental in preparing for these Games. Since joining CSIT in 2019, HOCSH has consistently shown its capacity and passion for organizing international events, especially through European-funded projects that align with our values.
A shining example of their dedication came in October 2024, when Loutraki hosted the 46th CSIT Ordinary Congress, co-organized by HOCSH and the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi. This event was not only professionally executed, but also rich in cultural exchange and community involvement - offering a clear preview of what these Games promise to deliver.
In line with the CSIT spirit, the Opening Ceremony will be a spectacular celebration. Athletes will parade through Loutraki, cultural performances will be showcased, and the entire city will be invited to witness the power of international friendship. The event will be broadcast live, inviting global audiences to share in the experience.
The Closing Ceremony will not only honor the athletic achievements of the participants but will also reaffirm the CSIT commitment to unity, solidarity, and peace through sport.
Acknowledgements
A big “thank you” goes to HOCSH, its President Mr. Nikolaos Kerassovitis and all his staff, also a “thank you” goes to the Mayor Mr. Georgios Gkionis, and the Region of Peloponnese. Your great support and collaboration have made Loutraki a global destination for amateur sport.
A Message of Peace Through Sport
As we gather here in joy and celebration, we cannot ignore the deep sorrow that weighs on many parts of the world. According to the United Nations' latest report, as of 2025, there are over 120 active armed conflicts worldwide, the world is facing the highest number of violent conflicts since the Second World War and 2 billion people — a quarter of humanity — live in places affected by such conflict. We are mourning the innocent lives - especially children and civilians - who continue to suffer and die because of wars and conflicts. In this difficult context, CSIT feels an even greater responsibility to raise its voice.
Sport is a bridge, not a barrier. Sport unites where war divides. Sport brings peace
Today, we are launching a powerful this peaceful message. Throughout this week, over 4,000 athletes, coaches, referees, officials, executives, and spectators - from 60 countries across all the continents - will participate in competitions that symbolize joy, unity, and human connection. This entire week is a testimony to how sport can bring people together, regardless of nationality, religion, or background. This is not just a Games week - it is a Week of Peace Through Sport, and we hope it inspires similar actions far beyond Loutraki.
Conclusion
As we embark on this exciting journey together, I invite you to witness and share the stories of resilience, passion, and hope that will unfold in the days ahead. The 8th Edition of the CSIT World Sports Games is not only an international event—it is a living testament to the belief that when people come together through sport, anything is possible.
