Anthony Mangini is head coach of Team USA and CEO of the organization US Football International, which was founded in 2001. The former linebacker proudly displays his Hall of Fame ring, which he was awarded in the 1980s after playing successfully for Los Angeles Express and Washington Federals in the US Football League. “Our mission here in Greece is part of a development project,” he explains. American football is a young member sport within the CSIT WORLD SPORTS GAMES. The appearances of the US Boys at the Perachora Football Field are a strong booster for the international spread of the sport.

“Under my leadership, we have worked very successfully in Mexico, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica,” reports the man from North Carolina. The cooperation with the Canadian Football League also works extremely well. No wonder, he has found a second home together with his wife from Denmark near Toronto. The US International Team consists of players from all over the United States. It also has the task of passing on skills and experience. Nevertheless, it's a tough job on the field: “We're not sure if we'll win the CSIT tournament because some of our key players are injured.” The victory versus Mexico was very close, 6-0 with only one touchdown scored. “It proves that our international development work is paying off,” laughs Mr. Mangini. “But it also shows that people can learn something from us.” A second US team defeated Costa Rica 7-0 at the start of the tournament and will play against Mexico on Thursday.
