CSIT launches winter sports section

First Alpine Skiing Competition in December 2026

The CSIT was founded in Belgium in 1913 and has since offered only summer sports as part of its program. Following an internal vote, and at the suggestion of the Austrian CSIT member ASKÖ, the CSIT will expand its program and focus to include winter sports from 2026 onwards.

The first event is scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 December at the Gaal ski resort in the Styrian Alps, in the heart of Austria, and will feature a giant slalom. As part of the ASKÖ Regional Championships, the CSIT will thus have the opportunity to welcome international guests from the CSIT network and beyond, thereby heralding the start of the ‘winter sports’ chapter within the CSIT.

Registration is handled directly by ASKÖ and Sports Director Matthias Lindner matthias.lindner@askoe.at or via SC Gaal Club President Gottfried Wolfsberger gottfriedwolfsberger@gmx.at . The registration fee is €30 until 20 November 2026, and €40 thereafter. For information on accommodation, please contact Birgit Gruber in Gaal on +43 513 802014 or at www.gaal.gv.at .

As a special service provided by ASKÖ, training sessions led by Austrian coaches will also be offered free of charge.

The CSIT, the ASKÖ and in particular the Ski Club Gaal, would be delighted to see active international participation!
