Cheers to WSG Aalborg 2027

The CSIT World Games will be held in Scandinavia for the first time in 2027. Following Tallinn in 2010 and Riga in 2017, the highly popular and well-attended CSIT World Games will take place in Northern Europe for the third time. The venue from 8 to 13 June 2027 will be Denmark's sports city of Aalborg, which was voted European Rising Innovative City in 2026. A city with a high level of life satisfaction and happiness among its residents, it is also a sports city with sustainable urban development and a high level of civic engagement. Aalborg enjoys a very high international reputation. In February, the CSIT made its first official visit to the city of the CSIT World Sports Games 2027 at the invitation of Aalborg's mayor, Lasse Frimand Jensen.

Aalborg's Mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen is a great supporter of the CSIT movement, who is very intensively and enthusiastically involved in the planning of the 2027 Games and keeps himself regularly updated on the organisation of the WSG 2027 and the CSIT Congress in autumn 2026. CSIT President Bruno Molea, Valeria Gherardini, CSIT Head of President's Office and CSIT Secretary General Wolfgang Burghardt had the opportunity to meet with the organisers of WSG 2027 for the first time at a special invitation to Aalborg's Old Town Hall and an official dinner, where they were able to discuss the upcoming World Games in detail.

There was also an extra meeting with the Organising Committee and Management of the WSG 2027 and colleagues from Aalborg Events, led by Sören Thorst, who played football for Aalborg in the UEFA Champions League in the 1990s. Important impressions were also gained directly on site, from the centre of the games and the public transport system in Aalborg, which is very well developed. The CSIT Congress Hotel Comwell, which will host the event in Aalborg in October 2026, was also inspected. The hotel's facilities are ideal for a congress, especially in terms of the capacity and size of a CSIT Congress and the World Amateur Sports Forum.

Aalborg is characterised by excellent infrastructure, hotels, sports facilities and an excellent public transport network, from the airport to the city centre and within the city itself. Distances are short, either within walking distance or easily accessible by public transport. There are also plans for social events and entertainment, as well as special opportunities to get to know Aalborg better. CSIT and WSG host Aalborg are already working hard to create an attractive programme, similar to previous WSG editions.

The official WSG 2027 invitation will be published in the summer of 2026. In September/October, it will be possible to register on the official online platform.
