ASKÖ Executive Committee re-elected

CSIT Vice-President Thomas Zacharias remains ASKÖ Vice-President

In mid-April, the 35th General Assembly of the Austrian CSIT member ASKÖ took place. As expected, the entire Executive Committee, including President Hermann Krist and ASKÖ and CSIT Vice-President Thomas Zacharias (Sport and International Affairs), was re-elected for a further four years. ASKÖ Austria is one of the largest member associations of the CSIT and is represented by one of the largest delegations at all CSIT World Sports Games and most Single Championships. The CSIT congratulates the leadership team and wishes them every success for the coming term. ASKÖ is one of the three major umbrella sports organizations in Austria, with around 4,300 member clubs.

Hermann Krist highlighted the diversity and, above all, the social aspect of the federation: “ASKÖ has always been characterized by social commitment and a dedication to equality; it has always championed the democratization of sport, the positive link between sport and politics, community and solidarity, and social influence. We can be proud of this network. Social cohesion is rarely as vibrant and immediate as it is within a sports club. Given the current global political situation, this unifying force is more important than ever. Sports clubs are the largest integration and inclusion project in our society. Workers’ sport will continue to make its contribution to this. Not least because it has always played a significant role in raising awareness. If we stand together in organized sport, so much is possible! We are happy to work with all political forces that value our work and treat us as equals.”

Vice-President for Sport, Mag. Dr Thomas Zacharias, reported on the successful development of the ASKÖ National Championships and National Performance Courses, the generational change among national coaches, the ASKÖ Junior Cups in handball and swimming, ARBÖ, the ASKÖ Austrian Junior Series, the ASKÖ Youth Promotion Award and the Junior Coach Award. The CSIT Vice-President also highlighted the activities of the CSIT and its planned inclusion of winter sports in the 2026 ASKÖ National Championships.
