100th Anniversary of the NCS
At the conclusion of the CSIT Single Championships in swimming in Geleen, Netherlands, a celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the CSIT member federation NCS Netherlands was held on Wednesday following the conclusion of the competitions. To mark the occasion, guests from all NCS clubs and all participants in the swimming championships were invited to the large sports hall of the new sports complex. CSIT President Bruno Molea was also in the Netherlands as a special guest of honor.
In addition to the celebratory speeches, the event featured several demonstrations of other sports, including pickleball, martial arts, and Catch’n Serve Ball—an interesting and innovative sport founded by the CSIT in 2023 that is rapidly gaining popularity within the CSIT. After the demonstrations, guests were warmly invited to personally participate in the featured sports, trying them out and getting to know them under expert guidance.
CSIT President Bruno Molea congratulated the organizers on the successful event and the 100th anniversary: “With the 100 years of NCS we celebrate today an extraordinary moment. A century is not just a number it is a powerful testimony of commitment and vision. For one hundred years, NCS has perfectly represented the values that are at the heart of our movement: Sport for All. Your organisation has successfully promoted accessibility, equality, and participation, giving space to workers, women, diverse communities, and all those who believe that sport must be a right.”
Molea further stated: “With its history, NCS has followed and anticipated major social evolutions, promoting rights, inclusion, and concrete models to advance equity in sport. NCS has accepted to host the CSIT Single Championships in Swimming, which are among the flagship events of our Confederation. These championships also represent the high level of professionalism and dedication of the CSIT Swimming Technical Commission, thank you Roberto Vecchione and Hugo Wanders. Thank you to CSIT Sport Directors Georges Michel and Harold Van Hest. Looking in the future, I am confident that NCS, with its extraordinary 100-year history, is more than ready to face the next 100 years with the same passion and vision. Congratulations and all the best for the future!”
